Commercial Uses Including the Use of Trainers and Instructors
General Rules
- Members are responsible to report any problems, damage, accidents, safety issues, or maintenance items with the arena or associated structures to a member of the PP4HA Board as soon as possible.
- No smoking allowed on the grounds; this includes inside vehicles on the grounds.
- Fires may be permitted with prior approval from the Board and in designated fire pit areas only. Fires may never be left unattended and must comply with Jeffco Fire regulations and restrictions.
- The use of charcoal/propane grills (as allowed by Jeffco Fire Restrictions) is allowed
- Only current Pleasant Park 4-H Association members and their guests are authorized to use the arena and grounds. All Association members using the arena and grounds must have a signed membership form with liability waiver on file with the PP4HA.
- An active member over the age of 18 must accompany all guests.
- The member is responsible for anyone under the age 18 and assumes full responsibility for the conduct and safety of the child.
- Member’s guest can use McKeever three (3) times, then they are required to purchase a membership.
- The member is responsible for the guest(s), and the guest(s) must abide by the PP4HA rules.
- All others are considered trespassers and may be prosecuted.
- Dogs (and other pets) must be under the full control of the owner. Members and guests with uncontrolled or aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.
- Exception: Official 4-H dog practice may be conducted off leash as necessary.
- Pick up all trash and take it home for disposal. Please do not deposit trash in the barrels, as those are not regularly emptied.
- 4-H ring rides and other scheduled activities take precedence over other uses such as individual arena use. The 4-H leader in charge has the authority to ask other users to leave or minimize their impact on the organized event.
- Members shall contact the Board with any conflicts with scheduling of arena/grounds use.
- All buildings must be locked, water turned off at faucets, lights turned off before the last user leaves the grounds.
NOTE: Only board and 4-H leaders have access to the building & water. - The gate must be closed and locked when leaving the property. DO NOT share the combination with anyone. The Board will provide the combination to all active members.
- Not closing and locking the gate when you are leavecan result in a 1-month suspension of your membership; multiple offences could have your membership revoked for the year with no refund.
- ATV’s and dirt bikes are not allowed to roam the grounds unless specifically authorized by the Board.
- Children with bicycles must ride as far away as possible from the riding arena and areas where horse activities are taking place.
- No driving motor vehicles in the arena or working the arena without written permission from the McKeever Arena Board.
Horse Use Specific Rules
- Horses are not to be tied to the arena fencing, buildings, or other improvements.
- All arena gates must be closed whenever someone is riding in the arena.
- Horses are not to be left unattended.
- Lunging on a line will be conducted in such a manner so as to not interfere with other arena users.
- Free lunging in the arena is only allowed if there are no other horses present.
- The use of helmets is strongly suggested but is not required.
- Cones, mounting block, barrels, and/or poles will be moved to the edge of the arena after use so that the arena may be groomed and maintained.
- NOTE: The barrels, poles, cones, and round pen currently at the arena are the property of the Pleasant Park Shooting Stars 4-H Club. If they are damaged during a non 4-H event the member/guest is responsible for replacing the item.
- Clean up after your horse, manure should not be left in the arena or parking area.
- Current members can pay a trainer for an individual lesson and utilize McKeever Arena but cannot close the facility or restrict where other members can ride during the lesson. Reminder a trainer is considered a guest, guests must become a member after the 3rd visit to McKeever.
Commercial Uses Including the Use of Trainers and Instructors
- All commercial or group sponsored activities must conform to the spirit and intent of the PP4HA bylaws and must have prior authorization from the Board of Directors.
- PP4HA members are allowed to utilize the arena and grounds for individual training and/or instruction provided their membership is in good standing.
- Any authorized "for-profit" activity will be required to "donate" a percentage of their profit to the PP4HA (potentially tax deductible). The percentage will be negotiated with the Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility rental for events may be available, application on the website.
- Anyone utilizing the facility for commercial purposes must provide their own insurance and send proof of insurance to the board prior to the event.
